This document is the third volume of a monumental collection of historical papers on Spanish naval voyages and discoveries from the late fifteenth century, compiled and annotated by the eminent Spanish naval officer and scholar Martín Fernández de Navarrete. The volume concentrates on the so-called "minor voyages" undertaken by Spanish navigators like Alonso de Hojeda, Vicente Yáñez Pinzón, and Rodrigo de Bastidas following Christopher Columbus's initial discoveries, detailing their exploration of the New World's eastern coastline from North to South America. It also contains a critical examination of the voyages attributed to Amerigo Vespucci, specifically aiming to refute the claims that led to the American continent being named after him. Furthermore, the book includes a collection of original, unpublished documents, such as royal decrees and legal depositions, concerning the history of the Castilian Navy and the first Spanish settlements, particularly in the region of Darién. This specific edition was printed in Buenos Aires in 1945.
