Prepared under the command of General Douglas MacArthur during the Philippine Liberation campaign of World War II, Terrain Handbook 54 is an official tactical intelligence publication compiled by the Allied Geographical Section (AGS). Dated April 4, 1945, the intelligence report provided basic topographical, coastal, climatic, and logistical information on the Sarangani Bay area in southern Mindanao for operational officers. The handbook detailed critical military infrastructure—including landing beaches, roads, water sources, and the Japanese-held Buayan Airfield—ahead of Allied clearing operations in Cotabato Province.
