This collection, Stories for Children, was compiled by the Philippine Federation of Christian Churches (PFCC) and likely published around 1958. The book's creation was a direct response to a cultural demand for literature "written in the Philippines especially for Filipino children" that was "free of foreign background". The PFCC organized a story contest in 1957 to gather these locally relevant narratives. Intended for use in both the home and the church school, the collection served a pedagogical purpose by explicitly seeking to foster "good attitudes, spiritual growth, moral truths or the sense of worship" in young Filipino readers. The work represents a significant effort in the post-war era to develop indigenous, values-based Christian literature for Filipino youth.
