This document, the 2002 Portal, serves as the first primary record of Silliman University as it entered its second century of service (2001–2101). Written in the third person, the yearbook captures the institutional atmosphere of the "Post-Centennial" era. Following the massive celebrations of 2001, the 2002 volume documents the university's transition from looking back at its 100-year heritage to looking forward toward new academic and social challenges in a post-9/11 global landscape. The publication is historically significant for documenting the leadership of the administration during the early 2000s and the graduation of the first class of the university's second century. It preserves the continuity of the "Silliman Spirit" in Dumaguete City, highlighting how the campus culture remained rooted in the motto Via, Veritas, Vita while adapting to the rapid technological and educational reforms of the early 21st century.
