A dictionary of Cebuano Visayan, Volume Two (L-Y)

About this record

This volume is the second part of a major Cebuano Visayan-English dictionary compiled by John U. Wolff. It was published in March 1972 as Data Paper: Number 87 in the Linguistics Series VI by the Southeast Asia Program, Department of Asian Studies, at Cornell University. The work was developed under a contract with the United States Office of Education and represents a significant effort during the post-World War II period to formally document and advance the study of major Philippine languages in US academia. The dictionary was distributed in the Philippines by the Linguistic Society of the Philippines and includes Volume Two, covering the letters L through Y of the lexicon. The inclusion of Silliman University on the title page further underscores a collaborative relationship between American and Philippine institutions in the field of linguistic research.

The book is considered valuable. It is advised that researchers use digital copy rather than physical books for preservation purposes.
