Wikang Pambansa was an official monthly publication established by the Surian ng Wikang Pambansa (Institute of National Language, now the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino) in August 1950 during the administration of President Elpidio Quirino. Published in Manila, this inaugural issue (Unang Taón, Blg. 1) served as a primary organ for language standardization, vocabulary expansion, and pedagogical instruction across the Philippines following the post-WWII reconstruction period.
The periodical features key historical documents, policy updates, literary studies, and foundational vocabulary lists—including greetings from President Quirino, administrative directives, historical overviews of the Surian, Tagalog-English vocabulary proposals, and comparative linguistic studies between Tagalog and Malay.
